Given the continued under-representation of females in engineering majors and careers, our goal is to expose, educate, and encourage young female students, grades 7 through 12, to learn about varied areas of engineering, as they chart their course for college and beyond. Our key activities/programming will include bringing in speakers and creating hands-on immersive experiences, e.g., field trips and projects, across professional, collegiate, and academic settings. Some examples include speakers and visits to Walt Disney Imagineering, JPL, SpaceX, UCLA, and USC Engineering research labs. We also plan to leverage our school’s alumni majoring in all the engineering disciplines from Materials Science to Environmental to Aerospace from colleges including UCLA, Northwestern, Princeton, Columbia, Duke, Stanford, and more.
